topic Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 IS USM catching on something internally when zooming. in EF & RF Lenses

This just started happening and I have no idea why. When I am zooming in and out I now feel something catching inside and clicking. It feels like one of the thin ribbon wire bands has gotten out of place and it clicking on the elements. That is just my best guess based on how it feels and sounds. Can anyone give me and idea of what this may be or if you have felt it too? Or also any ideas on how to resolve it without spending a ton of money on a barely 2yo old, $2,600 lens????? Please help.

Does it change when you adjust the tension ring? I've had a 1000 euro repair(here the lens was 3100 euro) after it fell 1.5 meter on a stone floor. The barrel was no longer round and made slight noise, only with a lot of force I could zoom.

The tension ring does not change anything. I feel it either way. Also it has NEVER been dropped. The worst it's ever experienced is normal jostling movement in a padded camera bag.

Besides that it works properly? There is only one thing to do and that is to call Canon 1 (800) 652-2666 and have it looked at under warranty if any is left or ask for a C&C at your expense.
