Seller won't exchange one Canon lens for another

Hi I am from India,I purchased a product which costs around Rs.65000 (Canon Lens RF600 MM) since I dont want to use it which is just one day old product I thought of returning it and replace it with another lens either Canon Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM Telephoto Zoom Lens or Canon RF100 - 400 mm F5.6-8 IS USM Macro Zoom Lens . However I couldnt get an option to do that. What is the best way to replace this. As I checked with the seller who sold this product claims they cant help and I reached out to canon support directly but still no support. I need help on this.

What exactly did you expect Canon India do to? Also keep in mind this is Canon USA which has no dog in the fight here so they are out of the loop. If your seller won't accept returns you will need to sell it on yourself if you don't want it. Perhaps ebay or Facebook Marketplace. It's a good lens but, yes, it is a long FL lens and designed for a particular purpose.

BTW, this is not a buy and sell web site.

Who exactly did you buy the lens from? Was it advertised as being returnable?

What does Canon Support have to do with this?

I have known box store retailers that had “no refund” policies on electronics. They refer to the manufacturer for refunds. They made this policy clear at the point of sale.

But that was 30 years ago, before the rise of online retail sales. The policy was in place for camcorders and other big ticket items. They had the policy because customers would buy a camcorder, use it on vacation for a week, and then return it for a refund. A free rental.

I thought those days were behind us. I have not heard of a similar policy in decades.

Nowadays retailers give store credit or exchanges, not refunds. I can't imagine why the manufacturer in any era would have dealt with refunds on stuff purchased from a retailer.

To be eligible for a refund, manufacturers would require that the item be returned in its original unopened packaging.

Purchasing a $13,000 lens, receiving it, and wanting to exchange it for a $600 lens might raise some eyebrows.

I see do not understand what the OP expects or wants Canon or this forum to do. And certainly Canon USA is not even a factor in this. If it was a warning about this retailer's return/refund policy, include the name.

I agree 100% with ebiggs1. First of, this is the Canon USA website. You need to post your complaint with Canon India website (Canon India. com), as Canon USA can't help you because India is not under their jurisdiction. Also, you should state the name of the seller you made your purchase from. Was it an Official Canon Distributor local India camera store, or did you buy it on the web? If so then state the name of the seller or provide the link to the web site. Did the seller make their store policy of no- refunds / no returns to you? Was the item that you purchased used or brand new. Post your complaint on the Canon India.com website. Only if you purchased it from a web vendor based in the USA 🇺🇸 should you post it in the Canon USA website. Also, this is between you and the seller. Good luck in resolving your problem.
