Tamron 28-75 macro lens stopped working on my R5

I’m a bit frustrated. I was working on a project for underwater photography that requires a 60 mm focal length. I had an old Tamron 28-75 which worked all week before my trip, I get down here and now it stoped communicating with my camera. It’ll focus for a few photos then it will stop, every so often it gives me a lens error 01. Would maybe reverting to an old firmware version help this issue? Why would the lens work for so long then stop communicating. I tried cleaning the contacts to the camera and lens. Cheers.

Have you tried using a Canon lens to see if it work properly. Are you using the Canon brand mount Adapter or 3rd Party. Stick with the Canon brand Mount adapter. 3rd Party Mount Adapters are nothing but trouble.

No it would not even if it is even possible which I doubt. Since you did not state, my first guess is you don't have a Canon brand adapter.

A better test is to get an EF camera and trying the Tamron lens.

If you search the forums you will find that many of our members have resolved challenges with Tamron lenses on R bodies by upgrading the lens firmware. If you haven't updated it may be a good inexpensive first step.

As it been pointed out, if you are using an adapter other then Canon that may also be causing the challenge. I tested several when I moved from DSLR/EF to MILC and most performed poorly.
