Are you sure that it is Image Stabilization? It could be this AF setting? Note the warning about turning off the camera.

RF 70-200 IS always on?

With my RF 70-200 on an EOS R it sounds like the Image Stabilization is always on, no matter the position of the IS on/off switch. As long as the camera is turned on I can hear the motors in the lens. N o change in sound when I slide the switch on anad off. Is this expected behavior?

I should have mentioned that I tried it with auto focus on an off. And I do not have continous focus turned on.

With auto focus on the sounds is more like a series of clicks and whirrs along with a constant smooth drone. With AF off it is just the droning sound.
