Greetings,

It might be helpful to know the type of photography that interests you most. We also usually ask for a budget.

In general however, the RF-S18-150 would be a great starter lens covering a broad focal length while you get to know your camera. If not already done, please download a copy of the user guide for your camera.

https://cam.start.canon/en/C011/

Here's a link to the lens.

https://www.usa.canon.com/shop/p/rf-s18-150mm-f3-5-6-3-is-stm?color=Black&type=New&srsltid=AfmBOoqX6hIjR68hRqvQr4TnNsFbak5tzpA5_JsA6OoLciL4RYMLRcJK

Regardless of what/where you buy, make sure you buy from an authorized Canon dealer. Canon itself, companies like B&H Photo or Adorama. Avoid eBay, marketplace sellers on Amazon or"kits". This ensures you're buying authentic gear, not grey market or counterfeit. It's fine to purchase from Amazon as long as it says ships from and sold by Amazon.

The only other items which are must-haves are one to two full size memory cards and a spare battery. Buying two or more smaller memory cards is better than one large one. You never want to put "all of your eggs in one basket"

My last recommendation is a neck or wrist strap. Always have some level of retention for your camera. Use it religiously.

If you have other questions just ask. Anyone here will be happy to help or assist you.

I understand these types of things aren’t cheap that one is sold out and a little over my price range for now, is there any cheaper options ones that you could recommend maybe around 200-300

Here are some options.

https://www.usa.canon.com/shop/pro/lenses/rf-lenses?facet_lens_mount_type=1116

Right now, the RF-S18-45mm is probably the closest thing within your budget. The reason why I didn't recommend this lens initially is because I believe you'll eventually want more reach and the 18-150 offers a lot of focal length for the price. There is no harm going with the RF-S18-45. If you go that route you could pick up the RF-S55-210 next. It would pick up where the 18-45 leaves off.

Best short term lens? Buy a USED RF-S18-45mm. It's the most common kit lens for that camera so no adapter is needed. There are lots for sale for a little over $100 ,used but still in new condition

Ripproach,

Another approach might be to buy an Rf 50mm f/1.8mm lens for $200.

Any RF lens will work with your new camera with no special adapter needed.

The RF 50mm has a larger aperture of f/1.8, which has more light gathering abilities, and allows for taking pictures in low light situations like indoors.

Because it is a fixed focal length lens, you can't zoom with it, but I think it is a good starter lens while you get to know the ins and outs of your new camera.

It is also a sharp lens which will give you good, sharp pictures..

Anyway, that's just another approach.
