The lens will "park" the IS and focus assembly when the camera is switched off. It takes a second or two in my experience after you move the camera switch. If you don't do this, and remove the lens before switch off the IS and focus assemblies are not "packed" and can rattle.

Since you mentioned using the RED V-raptor camera it could be that the camera doesn't do the correct parking or you removed the lens while it was still powered.

Yesterday we were shooting on a V-Raptor with an RF to EF Canon lens adapter and the Canon EF 100mm macro. Everytime we went to adjust the f-stop, the lens was unusually noisy. After the shoot, the lens is rattling like a tin can. This is the second EF 100mm macro that has done this. Does anyone have any idea where the problem is coming from? When we mounted the lens at the beginning of the day, it was completely normal, no rattle at all. Now it sounds like the whole thing is falling apart internally. At no point was the lens bumped or dropped. The Raptor uses RF lenses and we used a Canon RF to EF adapter, so we can't point to faulty equipment from a third party manufacturer or cheap lens adapters. Anyone have any ideas?

Interesting… so is there a way to fix it? Or will it need to go to canon for repairs?

Put the lens on a Canon camera and power on then off, wait a couple of seconds and it should be parked
