topic Bird is not in focus (R6 EF 500L & TC 2x IS iii in EF & RF Lenses

Today, I was shooting in Ladhak with my R6 and 500L F4 + 2xTC.

It was all working fine. I

Bird images were sharp. But then, after a while when I was shooting a partridge, the focus showed it had picked up the eye, but in the photos, the bird was not in focus. The focus was off.

I shot the bird in three locations left side of the road while crossing the road and then when it was standing on the right side. Both cases when the Bird was stationary and walking.

All images were off focus. So I tried focusing on the pole by the side of the road, and it was just perfect.

Does anyone know what is going wrong?

"Does anyone know what is going wrong?"

Yeah, you missed focus for one reason or another. But a sample would go a long way to help see just what went wrong.
