I am getting a Canon R50 over the next few weeks. I will be filming and taking street and portrait photography. I already have the RF 50mm in my cart. I was looking to add one lens to the bunch. I can’t decide on 85 or 35. I can’t do both so I have to choose which one. Between those two which one do you recommend?

85mm on a crop sensor camera is TOO narrow on an APS-C camera the angle of view would be 136mm because of the image sensor being smaller than Full Frame. Canon's APS-C cameras have a 1.6x crop factor applied to ALL lenses. 50mm would be a portrait lens on your camera (50x1.6= 80mm). Have you thought about the RF-S 18-45mm F/4.5-6.3 IS STM or RF-S 18-150mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM lenses. 35mm would be close to 50mm on an APS-C camera. But it will provide and AOV of 56mm when compared to Full Frame. ALWAYS buy gear from a Canon Authorized Dealer. DO NOT buy camera gear from any online marketplaces such as Facebook Marketplace or Amazon Marketplace. Stick with reputable dealers such as B&H Photo NY or Adorama. Amazon has multiple sellers. Only purchase if it says SOLD and Shipped by Amazon. There is a potential for Gray Market gear. Gray Market gear has NO WARRANTY. Remove it. Buy the 35mil instead if you just have to have a prime. 35mm is still going to be somewhat limiting but 85mm or even 50mm will be worse. One of the RF-S zooms is a far better choice.
