topic EOS R6 Mark ii + Sigma 18-35mm = 4k 60fps? in EF & RF Lenses

Hey guys, I am planning on coming from the Canon EOS R that which I’ve been shooting Vuon for the past year. One of the main reasons I was switching from the EOS R To the R6 mark ii Was for the 4K video capabilities.

I do plan on getting more lenses that will be full frame capability, but in the meantime, I was wondering if the Sigma 18-35 art 1.8 Has the capability of shooting 4K60 FPS with the Canon EOS R6 Mark ii.

Greetings,

With Canon lenses, this is possible. I do not know if it works with Sigma glass.

Canon : Product Manual : EOS R6 Mark II : Movie Recording Size (start.canon)

Canon : Product Manual : EOS R6 Mark II : Movie Cropping (start.canon)

The Sigma lens has an image circle suitable for APS-C [sensors]. Sigma does not use a special EF-S lens mount for Canon APS-C lenes. Like most third party manufacturers, Sigma uses the full frame EF mount for all Canon lenses, no matter which type of image sensor the lens is designed.

This means the camera will NOT detect this Sigma lens is designed for APS-C sensors. You will need to change the camera setting to use a crop mode with this lens. I cannot say what type of performance you may get using a crop sensor lens because I do not own any.

Good morning,

True indeed. The manual states the camera will do 4k in crop mode. Index item 3 in my image above. The OP's original question was can he shoot in 60P using an APS-C lens. I do not think so based on the image below.

Actually you were right first time, and have now interpreted the manual wrong.

EOS R6 Mark II can shoot in 4K 60fps when set to 1.6x crop or set to full-frame. I have verified this on my EOS R6 Mk II with RF 28-70mm full frame lens and then RF-S 18-150mm lens fitted which forced crop mode. As others have said the unknown is will the Sigma lens tell the camera it's a crop lens or not.

When the camera is set or forced to 1.6x crop, it is not possible to select the high frame rate movie options for 120fps / 180fps at FullHD.
