It's just not possible but the overriding reason is not that the physical properties make it impractical, the fact there are so few people that would be interested in using it and/or buying one. If it was a viable market some engineer or smart machinists would figure out how even if it meant reconstructing the lens a little. As with all or most all of these adapters I imagine some compromise in usability and/or IQ would be present.

Tamron AF lens on a Canon A-1?

I was wondering if I could use the *Tamron AF Aspherical XR 28-300mm* lens on my Canon A-1, the lens does have a manual focus function but if I adapt the lens onto my A-1 can I take good pictures? (Also right now I have this AF lens on my EOS ELAN 7 which is a EF mount so would I need to look specifically for a EF or AF type mount adapter?)

The Canon A-1 uses FD Mount lenses which are mechanically communicating to the camera body via levers and springs. The EF Mount is electronically communicating and uses electronic communication. There is no way to adapt an EF Mount lens to an FD Mount body. There would be no way to control it. The aperture would be wide open and some EF lenses utilize electronic focus rings. The AF motor is used for manual focus too.

There is a guy making adapters to put FD-mount lenses on EOS AF bodies. It's an expensive proposition and only works for certain FD lenses.

You want to put an AF lens on a manual-focus camera. There is no such adapter to do this.
