I don't remember of or know of any adjustment on that lever. I would seek out a different repair shop because I don't think your lens is in "great condition."

So I got a new lens (FD 28mm f/2.8) for my canon A1 and the max aperture shown on the camera is f/9.5 and it can’t be adjusted beyond that. I know the camera isn’t faulty because my other FD lenses work just fine. I took the lens in for repair and they told me it was in great condition but the problem might be with the Max Aperture Pin on the lens not communicating correctly with the camera. Any idea on how to manually adjust it so that it shows the correct aperture?

Can't the repair shop assist if you brought them the body and lens together?
