70-200 F2.8 Blurry After Drop

Dropped my lens about a wk ago before my game (while attached to the camera) and since then my pics after 160-170m onwards have been blurry.I’ve tested some other lenses on the body and they don’t have the same issue at that distance. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

(First pic was before the drop and the last two were after the drop. Same focus pts and camera modes were used)

I'm very sorry. This is when you contact Canon. "Dropped my lens while it was connected to the camera" means both need to be sent in for inspection and repair. Maybe the camera is OK, not sure.

You need these 2 things moving forward.

Black Rapid Wrist Strap

Either protects well against dropping. I won't take my camera out of its bag without one or the other attached.

Funny thing is that I’ve called Canon about this lens before and they claim that they don’t service it anymore since it’s so “old”. Ironically, it was actually in my crossbody bag but at the same time, I had my kit bag and a contact shield over my shoulder. MOTS: Make two trips 😅

I use the neck strap that came with the camera.

Follow @jrhoffman75's advice. midwestcamera.

The wrist strap is what I use most (recently). Yes, its one more thing to deal with, but I'd rather wear it than watch $$$$ tumble. Things like this often happen when we are in a hurry, not paying attention, etc. I walked off a few curbs in Germany last year. Streets were empty (that I was watching for), but I rolled my ankle pretty bad. Didn't go down and camera was put away, but I was looking up instead of where I was going. Good luck with the repair. We're sorry it happened.

Hold on there a bit Cj7509. You need to test it before you send it on and spend money for a repair.. Your 3rd example cold be error on your part and not the camera/lens combo. The second could also be user error.

Set it up on a tripod and do some testing. Several apertures and focal lengths and distances at a static target. Use One Shot and not Ai-servo, in fact almost never use Ai-servo. Center focus point only. It is possible you knocked something out of alignment so service is a possibility but prove it first. You can't prove anything shooting random shots outdoors under varying conditions.

Before the test reset the camera to default settings.

One more word of advice check replacement costs as older equipment repair quickly approaches the cost of replacement either used or new. It may be a good excuse to get that new upgraded camera!
