topic 85L II soft at longer distances in EF & RF Lenses

I have an 85L II that seems to have problems focusing at different distances. I gave the lens a MA of -4 based on results form LensAlign and FocusTune (distance was at 50x the focal length).

The lens basically nails focus at closer distances, but gets progressiively worse as camera to subject increases.

For example, a head and shoulders shot will be sharp, while a full body shot will be soft.

Any ideas?

Hello MilesFinch,

You would want to clean the lens contacts on your EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM lens with a soft microfiber cloth. You may also want to test another lens on the camera to see if the issue persists on your camera. If so, then you may need to send in the lens for Service. You can start off the lens repair process on our web site.

Access the support web site here to set up that repair online.
