Yes, you can use any EOS red dot (EF) lens on any EOS camera.

White dot (EF-S) lenses will only work on crop body cameras.

All Canon EF lenses will work on any of the DSLRs such as Rebel SL1, T3i, T5i, 60D, 70D, 7D, 6D, 5D Mark III, etc.

Today there are also EF-S lenses, that are designed and made specifically for the "crop format" DSLRs, including SL1, T3i, T5i, 60D, and 7D. These will not fit or work on older film EOS or on today's full frame DSLR models (6D, 5DIII, 1DX).

Third party lenses such as Sigma, Tamron, Tokina might work fine on the DSLRs, too... But some may not. It doesn't hurt to try them, but they may not be able to focus properly and/or might not be able to set the aperture. This will show up as an Error on the DSLR. If that happens, just remove the lens, turn off the camera, remove the batteries from the camera momentarily, and then turn it back on. The camera will be fine, but the lens won't be usable on it.

***********
Alan Myers

San Jose, Calif., USA
"Walk softly and carry a big lens."
GEAR: 5DII, 7D(x2), 50D(x3), some other cameras, various lenses & accessories
FLICKR & PRINTROOM
