Hi, I am finding that my lens after full zoom does not and cannot return to the resting position (100mm). It stops with about 1 inch of the barrel still sticking out. This happened when I had it connected to a Canon 6D mark II camera. Would anybody be able to help? Thanks David in Australia

That does not sound quite right. It might need service.

The zoom ring of the lens is completely independent of the lens mount. It should not matter which camera is attached, [nor] if there is not one at all.

However, the lens does have a friction adjustment on the zoom ring, so check that first.

The only thing I can think of is this lens has a tension ring for the zoom. You can use this to snug the zoom to avoid "zoom creep" (unintended changing of the zoom). If that was a bit too snug... maybe it was refusing to move. It should easily run the full zoom range if the tensioin ring is the loose position.

Thanks for that. I've decided to send the thing back to Canon. Checked the tension ring...that wasn't the problem. Cheers
