New forum user here, searching didn't bring up this issue so pardon if this is a repeat question.

I was cleaing my 70-200 2.8 today and noticed all these tiny dots, they look like they are on deep inside lenses. It doesn't look like dust or fungus, they look more like bubbles in the glass. Anyone experienced this before? The lens is about two years old, I've never noticed them before but they have to be held at a certain angle.

I'm not asking about throughly cleaning lenses, sensor's etc. I'm just talking about dusting off, lightly cleaning the outside of the lens, not my camera. I've read many different methods and cleaning solutions. I have microfiber cloths, a brush pen and blower, Zeiss wet cleaning wipes, but have been reluctant to use any them. I try not to get my eye piece or lens dirty, but they may need wiping off from time to time. I would only clean my lens if absolutely necssary for the reasons Biggs states. I won't fool with my camera lens/sensor at all.

I noticed this too. They are consistently sized tiny dots all over the surface of some inside element in the lens assembly. Could it be part if the auto focus mechanism.... I don'tdont .

It was noticed while dusting the lens and when held against a lighr source, in the infinity setting (dots come in full focus).

I wish a Canon technical specialist would respond to this rather than speculative and dismissive comments that are of little value.
