TR4520, TR8620 comparison IGNORE

The vendor assured me that the TR4520 does support scanning to a pdf, and the price of the TR8620 is out of my price range. So I purchased a TR4520. I will report my experience with the TR4520 here after it is delivered.

I'm looking at purchasing a Canon printer to replace the TS8100 with either the TR4520 or the TR8620. From the specs they both have capabiities similar to the TS8100. One difference is the ink systems. The TR4520 is called "Hybrid Ink System", the TR8620 uses the 5-cartridge system like the TS8100.

2 questions:

1. Do these printers support a utility program to scan documents to a pdf?

2. Which ink system has the lower usage/cost for replacement of cartridges?
