This is a mismatch that I do not experience with my IP8720 the older cousin to your printer. We use the same ink cartridges (except I have one additional, a gray cartridge) I am fortunate that my prints match my monitors almost exactly, I sometimes have to brighten my image file but no color adjustment is necessary. I have a number of framed 11x14 prints hanging in art stores in the town where I live. I use Windows and post process with Corel Paintshop Pro. I print from Sony's play memories home photo sorting program, which is free by the way. I am tellin you this just to provide some background. Here is what I found about your issue:

Common Issues with Canon PIXMA iX6850 Printing from Photoshop on macOS Sequoia

Faint Yellow Edges in Prints

When printing from Photoshop on macOS Sequoia, users of the Canon PIXMA iX6850 may notice faint yellow edges around their prints. This issue can arise from two main factors:

Color Profile Mismatches: If the color settings in Photoshop do not align with the printer's color profile, it can lead to unexpected color outputs, including unwanted yellow hues. (This is the first thing I suspect, since printing from other programs does not produce the yellow edge.) For the Canon PIXMA iX6850, it's recommended to use ICC profiles specifically designed for the paper you are using to achieve the best print quality. If no specific profiles are available, you can select "Photoshop Manages Colors" and choose a suitable profile from the options provided in Photoshop

Ink Flow Issues: Problems with the ink cartridges, such as third party cartridges, clogs or low ink levels, can also affect print quality, resulting in color discrepancies.

Solutions to Address the Issue

To resolve the faint yellow edges, consider the following steps:

Check Color Profiles:

Ensure that the color profile in Photoshop matches the printer's settings.

Use the correct ICC profile for the PIXMA iX6850 to ensure accurate color reproduction.

Perform Maintenance on the Printer:

Run a nozzle check to identify any clogged nozzles.

Clean the print head if necessary to improve ink flow.

Update Printer Drivers:

Make sure that the printer drivers are up to date to avoid compatibility issues with macOS Sequoia.

Test with Different Paper Types:

Sometimes, the type of paper used can affect print quality. Experiment with different paper settings in Photoshop.

Conclusion

By addressing color profile settings and ensuring proper maintenance of the printer, users can minimize or eliminate the faint yellow edges in their prints when using the Canon PIXMA iX6850 with Photoshop on macOS Sequoia.

Hi,

Issue - Canon Pixma iX6850 very faint yellow print appearing around desired print whilst printing from photoshop.

I'm trying to create prints from photoshop on my mac (operating system Sequoia 15.3.2). I'm sure when I started tweaking the colour profiles etc I managed to achieve the desired colour levels and I was happy for a very short time! But now everytime I print on photoshop, the prints end up with a faint tinted yellow box around the edge. If I print in a different program, such as Preview, I don't encounter the additional, unwanted print area. But I want to print from photoshop as it achieves a much better colour level.

After google research, most things point to it being caused by the printer and photoshop both trying to manage the colour levels, but I have tried and checked that the printer is disabled. Which appears when I access the print options box as the options box being greyed out and unable to select an option (color sync / printer matches colors).

I have downloaded the latest driver and software from the canon website.

Can anyone shed any light on this? As I'm getting fairly fed up with my new-ish printer!

Thanks in advance : )

Vic

Hi Derrick,

Thank you for coming back with options to look at yesterday. I have previously explored both lines of enquiry, cleaning print heads, checking nozzles etc and trying to select the appropriate ICC profile for the printer/paper.

I have been using a PPD 270gsm matt paper, but they don't issue an ICC to use, so after running print trials and searching for other users suggestions, I selected what seemed to be the best ICC to use. Although this is still based on opinion rather than a set profile suggested by the paper producer. So I think I will look at other paper options that specify an ICC profile and see if that offers a solution.

Thank you for your help!
