Update: printer successfully completed the nozzle check pattern. I don't know if it's a final solution but the printer started working fine between my last 20 attempts of consistent failure to print and the this time after I discovered that the paper sizesettings didn't match between the one assigned in the canon interface (A3+) and the Affinity paper size (defined by driver). Once I made the Affinity profile also match to A3+ it printed like a dream. Still need to get through more to see a consistent process happen but it was an immediate improvement to a very odd problem.

Thanks for the test page path, that really eased the nerves and told me there was a chance!

PIXMA iX6820 Empty pages and connection cycling

Big help needed. Using IX6820, bought it used, arrived looking brand new other than it was missing its print head. Bought a new print head and ink cartridges, installed the new drivers as of 6/15 to a windows 11 laptop. Wired directly to the laptop via USB with wifi disabled. Here's what's going on:

Power it on, device recognized, PC says its Idle.

Assign settings to print, print (1 sheet print).

Printer starts making normal noises like its going to print.

Spits out a whole sheet of paper, does not attempt to print, I put a new sheet it, continues to send it right out.

Sometimes it will begin to print the first glimpse of the image but it will stop and repeat the ejecting of paper.

Watching the printer status in the print queue it looks like the connection is cycling from connected to disconnected very rapidly which I think is the issue.

I've uninstalled the driver, performed the capacitor drain (unplugging and holding the power button) but the same issue persists.

Sometimes after it spits out the empty page it will tell me the print is complete, most times it just stays in the print queue and will continuously spit out empty pages without attempting to print.

I have had successful prints when printing via the canon print app plugged directly into an ipad. I just cannot assign the right print settings from that app and need the more in-depth print settings that come with a laptop/desktop interface.

Help appreciated in advance 😄

It could be that the connection going on and off is related to the printing issue. It could be a faulty USB cable or the port it is connected to, which often is caused by a hub, not connected directly into the printer. A clogged printhead can also cause printing problems but not a USB goin on and off, and since you have a new print head that should not be causing the issue. Have you printed a nozzle check? It can be done from the printer itself which will bypass your USB connection. If it does not complete the print then something is wrong with the printer itself. Load a sheet of A4 paper and do the following.

Hold down the RESUME/CANCEL button.

While holding the button, watch for the POWER lamp to flash white twice.

Release the RESUME/CANCEL button immediately after the second flash.

Wait for Completion
Do not perform any other operations until the printer has finished printing the nozzle check pattern.
