Hi sngarner,

The serial number of the PIXMA MX860 is located inside the printer, as shown below.

Open the Paper Output Tray.
Lift the Scanning Unit (Cover) (A) until it locks into place.
The serial number is located on a white sticker on a metal plate to the right of the print head carriage inside the printer. It starts with four letters and ends with five numbers. Example: ABCD01234
