Its sounds like you had a working printer and computer system. You decided to purchase a new computer. It is incumbent on you to determine whether all your existing hardware and software will work with the new computer. This is not a unique Canon issue.

I just bought a new laptop preinstalled with Windows 11. I can't find any W11 drivers on Canon's download site. When I use one of the utilities, it seems happy detecting it as W10 but then when it errors out when trying to install the drivers.

In this day and age, when the MX350 prints via USB or Network, why wouldn't Canon issue drivers for W11. I really don't want to have to replace a perfectly good printer just because Canon hasn't released drivers for it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks Mike for the info. No where when I was searching did I find a mention that the MX350 was retired in 2016. I did note that there were software upgrades to, different software components for the MX350, as last as 2022 on the US support site

You know what pisses me off, if you upgrade Windows 10 with a Canon mx350 installed the printer will work after the upgrade to windows 11. In my eyes this a f'ing money grab for Canon. CANON RELEASE THE GOD **bleep** DRIVERS

Dear Mike,

you should be proud that Canon products last so long. Why don't you provide drivers as long as your products live? Please consider a more sustainable approach. I'm sure that users would even pay for a driver update instead of buying a new printer.

Your current approach is nothing but brainless money making.

Regards,

Andrea

You can very possible use a Windows 10 driver when installed as administrator in compatibility mode for Windows 10. A new driver would be great but Microsoft who has no real advantage with from any printer maker does offer a work around to outdated drivers and other programs.

DS256:

Windows 10 drivers work very well on many Windows 11 computers. The fact that Canon (or any other printer maker) doesn't create Windows 11 drivers for older equipment does not mean the printer is no good anymore.

But......if your new computer has an ARM (Snapdragon) CPU, as opposed to an Intel or AMD CPU, that's another story. Windows 11 comes in two flavors.....for Intel/AMD, and for ARM. An ARM processor may not be able to utilize drivers written before ARMs were in use. Canon has not been good about producing ARM-specific drivers. Canon (and Microsoft) will tell you how to install a printer using Windows's built-in drivers. But this does not guarantee full functionality.

This printer is 16 years old. Canon still provides drivers for Windows 10 which might work under Windows 11. If not you should be able to use the printer with native drivers that will allow you to print without all of the customization and control offered by the full driver installer.

It is not possible to provide support for a device in perpetuity. Canon is no different than any other hardware manufacturer. In some cases, the device may have hardware incompatibility with new software architecture. Expecting that you can use a device forever is not realistic or reasonable.

All downloads / software available for the MX350 are here.
