topic Canon G7000 Ink sponge page counter RESET in Desktop Inkjet Printers

My printer has stopped working because it says the sponge is full even though it was working perfectly fine. The ink sponge has been cleaned. I am feeling a bit cheated after paying a high price so that I can't use my product anymore. Anyway, can I reset this counter? This seems like planned obsolescence to me. Do newer models have this counter as well? France has put into place new laws against this practice, I hope this will stop. I had this same issue with another brand and I had bought Canon as I thought this would not be an issue since it has refillable tanks.I feel frustrated that I can't upkeep my printer on my own and that I have to pass through Canon. I apologise for the rant but you have to understand that this is only natural to feel this way. Thank you for your help. Kind regards, Matthijs

Greetings,

I understand your frustration. Technically, the ink absorber pads are not user serviceable. I am aware it can be done by those who are so inclined.

The software tool needed to reset the ink counter is proprietary and is not available to the public.

With diligence, you might be able to find a way to put the machine into service mode and reset.

A quick search shows that there are kits sold by third parties for ink absorber replacement or alternate systems that drain the ink to a bottle. These are not offered or supported by Canon.

I wish I could offer additional information but unfortunately none is available.
