It may not always fix the problem when it has an actual failed part, but this code comes up on a glitch also, a popular one, but I find it odd this is your response, and only response, I did notice you tell someone else it was a possible power supply issue, and that it was a good choice to buy a new one, some things aren’t just read in a book, would a new board fix it? Probably, because the new board isn’t stuck in the glitch, but I can confirm and so can someone else here, that this fix is working at least part of the time and is worth trying.

Hello community, after looking online after getting this error code, I saw that, just answer was giving false information, cannon only says you need a repair or new unit, and the unit gets stuck in this boot loop error code so you can’t reset in any traditional way, I came here because I saw people were just throwing away their printer over this code, and no one, even common support had an answer. But, I know that almost every item has a hidden firmware reset put in by the maker. So with that, I’m also very good at finding them. I’m here to share it with you. This printer has a power button and a touch screen, during this error or others, the touch is disabled to go in to settings, so follow these instructions carefully.

Turn off

Hold power and you will see 1 blink then 1 blink then repeated faster blinks then solid light. While on solid light keep holding power , don’t let go, and unplug unit, plug bag in while still holding power. Let go during rapid flashing, screen will be lit but black and blank, then unplug again, and press power normally

I have also added this reset to the chat gpt archives so it can assist people in the repair if they ask, originally, chat gpt also had no answer and wanted me to buy a new one or start replacing boards. I want this information public to help others! Thanks!

Thank you. This works. On my display (TR6820 A) the blinking is a little different as I just got a series of 8 flashes then a long flash on the 9th. I unplugged and plugged on the 9 'th. It took a couple of trys following Porterchad's instructions but it did work. You just have to follow exactly and look for the dim blank backlit screen as he says before completing..

Porterchad is a righteous dude for taking the time to put this out there.

FYI- the error code is associated with a possible printhead or ink system issue, the suggested fixes do not always clear the error.

I was referring to the Canon support page possible fixes. They work many times, but not always.
