Pixma MG5420 stops printing midway through picture

Printing out a handful of 4"X6" borderless postcards. It will print several at a time, or maybe not even finish one, and just stop. No message on the display. The only thing I see in the console on the Mac is "Canon_MG5400_series: File "/Library/Caches/com.apple.ipp2ppd.Canon MG5400 series.icns" not available: No such file or directory", which I think is an ignorable error.

What causes a printer to just stop printing mid-page and think it's done? Ink levels look good, paper feed looks good...

The OS is Maverick 9.2 and I'm printing wirelessly. It is very sporadic, as I've been able to print many without any problems. Just once in a while the printer gets 1/4 of the way through and just ejects the paper without providing any error message.
