Thanks for joining the conversation, Guillermo2!

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using within the PIXMA TR4700 series. The model number should appear on the front of the unit at the upper right corner. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hello everyone,

I have a Canon TR4700 printer connected locally to my PC via USB. When I connect to a Windows Server 2022 machine through Remote Desktop (RDP) to use a specific application, the server does not detect or redirect my local printer.

I have verified that:

The Canon TR4700 works correctly on my local computer.

The “Printers” option is enabled in the Remote Desktop client before connecting.

I have proper permissions to access the application on the server.

There are currently no official drivers available for the Canon TR4700 for Windows Server 2022.

However, the printer does not appear in the server session, so I’m unable to print from the application running on the remote server.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue with printer redirection in RDP on Windows Server 2022, especially with models like the Canon TR4700 with no server drivers? Are there specific settings, drivers, or group policies that need to be configured on the server side?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Greetings,

The issue you're having is not directly related to a feature of your Canon product, instead it's likely an issue with your environment or server configuration as you mentioned. Local USB devices are not typically impacted by corporate VPN.

Access to the resource does have to be enabled in the RDP client, which it sounds like you've already done. Group policy on the server side that controls device redirection could also be a contributing factor. The lack of drivers for the server OS could also impact the ability to print.

I would recommend working with your IT dept or if you are the administrator looking at the items you mentioned above. I'd also check that the Print Spooler service is running on the server. Technically it should run by default even if no Print Server role is installed.

Good Luck 🙂
