PIXMA TS6120 Scanner function suddenly unavailable

Using a Pixma TS6120 with Apple Mini, OS Tahoe 26.2. Out of the blue, the scanner function no longer is available when opening from the Systems Settings. Was functioning properly until about 2 weeks ago. Restarted the computer; no effect. Have uninstalled then reinstalled the printer; no effect. Functions properly on an associated MacBook Pro also using Tahoe 26.2. Suggestions?

Greetings,

We seem to be hearing from a lot of users recently who are experiencing loss of scanner functionality after upgrading or using Tahoe for a bit. Since you are still working on another system, I assume your printer is connected to a wireless network?

Upon review, I see this printer relies largely on AirPrint for functionality. Because of this, I'd like to make the following recommendation. I suggest you assign the printer a static IP on your network. This can be done on your router. Take note of the IP assignment.

Once complete, you should power cycle the printer using its power button. Now return to your MAC and open the Printer & Scanners applet. Remove the printer using the minus key (-).

Then visit the Applications folder and uninstall (drag to trash) all Canon Apps, drivers and utilities.

Important: Restart your computer.

Now visit the support portal for your device.

https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-ts6120

Select Downloads, MAC OS and Tahoe. Download the IJ Scanner Utility Lite. You can also download Easy Photo Print Editor and Image Garden if you wish. These will be used after the next step.

Open the Apple menu, Printers and Scanners. Add the printer as a TCP/IP device. Select the Globe icon which is just to the right of the default add printer icon.

Enter the IP address you assigned to the printer earlier. The same IP will also populate in the name field below. This field is editable. Give the printer a friendly name, example TS6120. Continue adding the printer.

Once complete, run the IJ Scanner Utility lite installer. When finished, restart the system. Test printing and scanning. If successful, you can install the other apps if you wish.

If you run into any issues, please let us know. Hoping this helps.
