Thank you all for the feedback and suggestions.

After extensive testing, I would like to summarize my findings for clarity and for other users who may run into the same issue:

With macOS Sequoia, my PIXMA MX925 reliably supported “Scan → PC” initiated from the printer’s front panel via Bonjour / Canon EIS.

After upgrading the same Mac mini to macOS Tahoe, the printer no longer detects the Mac as a scan destination.
Printing still works, but Scan → PC from the device display no longer functions.

All Canon services (Canon EIS Registration, Scanner Selector, local network permissions) are enabled and correctly configured.

Scanning from the Mac side still works using Canon Quick Menu, but this does not restore the original front-panel workflow.

I tested VueScan as well. While it can successfully scan from the Mac, it does not restore Scan → PC initiated from the MX925 display, which depends on Bonjour / EIS.

Connecting the MX925 via USB also does not restore this functionality, as Scan → PC is strictly a network-based feature.

Based on this, it appears that macOS Tahoe no longer supports the legacy Bonjour/EIS scan-to-computer mechanism used by the MX925 series, even though the hardware itself remains fully functional.

I fully understand that hardware cannot be supported indefinitely, which is also why I purchased a MAXIFY GX6150 as a current, supported replacement.
Nevertheless, it feels like the right time for manufacturers and platform vendors to rethink long-term software support where possible, in order to reduce unnecessary electronic waste and extend the useful life of otherwise perfectly functional devices.

From both a user and environmental perspective, this situation is disappointing.

I hope this summary helps other MX925 users who are evaluating upgrades to macOS Tahoe.

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask whether other users of the Canon PIXMA MX925 are experiencing a similar issue with macOS Tahoe.

Setup:

Canon PIXMA MX925 (network printer/scanner)

Mac mini

Connected via LAN (same subnet)

Scanning via Bonjour / “Scan → PC” from the printer panel

Situation:

With macOS Sequoia, the MX925 detected my Mac mini without any problems and Scan → PC worked reliably.

After upgrading the Mac mini to macOS Tahoe, the printer no longer finds the Mac mini in the scan destination list.

Printing still works normally.

All Canon-related services (e.g. Canon EIS Registration, Scanner Selector, Local Network permissions) are enabled in macOS privacy settings.

Scanning from the Mac side works using Canon Quick Menu, but Scan → PC from the printer display no longer works.

A MacBook Air running macOS Monterey on the same network is still detected immediately by the MX925.

Questions to the community:

Are there other MX925 users on macOS Tahoe for whom Scan → PC still works?

Is this a known compatibility issue between macOS Tahoe and older Canon scanner services (Bonjour / EIS)?

Are there any workarounds or an official statement from Canon regarding this?

Thank you in advance for any feedback or shared experiences.

Greetings,

I've been answering the same question about various printer models this entire week. Most everyone can print, but suddenly can't scan. MAC OS Tahoe v26.2. The MX922/924/925 series has enjoyed a good long life. The 922 is a US model and has been retired. It's about 13 yrs old now. Still working under Windows, but support under MAC has been waining as time passes. I believe the others were released in Europe and parts of Africa.

Best recommendations. Remove the device from the printers and scanners applet using the minus button (-). Uninstall all Canon drivers, and utilities. Drag from Applications folder to trashcan.

Important: Restart your system

Now visit the support portal for your product.

https://en.canon-cna.com/support/consumer/products/printers/pixma/mx-series/mx925.html

There are no drivers listed for Tahoe or Sequoia. The last official drivers were released for Ventura. It's hard to say if these will work for Tahoe. You can try the Printer and Scanner driver.

If you are using a wireless connection. I'd connect the printer to my network before trying to run the installers. If you are using USB, I would not connect the printer to the system until prompted to do so during driver installation.

Another option. Try using whatever native drivers if supplied by Tahoe. This may be extremely limited. It's possible you can try to use image Capture for scanning. It's possible though Apple has decided to leave this aging product behind.

Additional option. Download a trial of VueScan by hamrick software. It's free to try without obligation. If it tests successfully, you can buy it.

Last option. Accept that your product has reached it's end of life. Shop for a new printer that is supported under a modern OS. It is not possible for hardware to be supported indefinitely.

My colleague @DerrickL has brought up a good point.

In a few of my recent posts, I have suggested and provided steps to both, assign a static IP to the printer on your router and to install the printer as a TCP/IP device on your MAC. These suggestions have proven successful with newer printers, restoring scanning capability under Tahoe. I'm not sure if they will work on older (retired) models.
