topic No color output at all from PIXMA G7020 - SOLVED in Desktop Inkjet Printers

I'd only used this (excellent IMO) printer for B&W since I bought it. After 2-3 years I tried to print in color -- Nothing. It wouldn't print colors at all. I tried a few times to fix the problem, walking thru all the usual Maintenance steps Canon Help outlines. This time i even did the Ink Flush. But it still was not printing any color. The clog wasn't affected by the usual Steps (even incl Ink Flush).

I'd seen reference to the Print Heads. I removed the Color printhead by following these Canon directions; then I didn't see any instructions about what to do with it. (https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/G7000%20series/EN/NTR/ntr_h_02.html

I had some Printhead Cleaner that I applied carefully to the ink outlets of the printhead. I cleaned and dried them usng Q-tips. Then I re-installed the Color PH.

I really didn't see how that could have accomplished much. But i put a colorful book cover on the faceplate and selected Color Copy.

But it had worked !! After 2 years of casually trying the protocol, this time I went further - and I had full color printing for the 1st time in years !

This process worked for me - for my printer and my problem. i can offer no assurance that it will work for anyone else; there is no implied warranty. But, I'll add that the steps i took seemed to me to present a fairly minimal degree of risk, which I was willing to accept that if it would solve this stubborn problem.

Good luck and bon chance frrom just another owner (with no connction to Canon Inc.)
