Hello and thank you. Can I scan slides using the Pixma MG 3620 printer/scanner? If so, how? Thanks again.

The Canon PIXMA MG3620 is a flatbed scanner designed for documents and photos, not specialized for transparent film or slides. While it cannot directly scan slides due to a lack of a transparency unit (light source), you may attempt to scan them by placing them on the glass, using a backlight source, and selecting high-resolution (600+ DPI) settings in the IJ Scan Utility.

Steps for Attempting Slide Scans:

Place Slides: Open the scanner lid, place the slides directly onto the scanner glass (platen).
Add Backlight: Because the printer lid does not have a built-in backlight, you must place a small, flat, bright light source directly behind the slide, or the scan will be black.
Use Software: Open the Canon IJ Scan Utility on your computer.
Scan Settings: Select Photo mode and choose a high resolution (600 dpi or higher) for better detail.
Crop & Adjust: Scan, then use editing software to crop the slide and adjust colors, as the colors may appear inverted or washed out without a dedicated film scanner.
