Usually you have to push the plug a bit to get it to plug into the printer. I suspect your printer is missing a plastic insert that is inside the plug recess. This insert holds the cable snug.. I would try wrapping a stripe of tape around the end of the plug, make it a bit larger so it fits tighter into the socket.

I have a TR8620a Canon printer. From day one the power cord keeps falling out. My daughter has the same kind of printer and I tried her power cord on my printer, but that one fell out too. It works fine on her printer. How can I fix this?

Does the cord insert far enough to power the printer up?

Yes. I have tape holding it in place so I can use the printer. But if the printer get moved at all the cord tends to fall out. I then need to play with the tape again in order to get it in place again so that it will turn on. Very frustrating!
