Thanks. However, the carriage which contains the cartridges moves freely both when the top is opened and manually. I searched everywhere and could find no obstructions. There is a clacking, ratchety sound coming from the two plastic white gears under the cartridge carriage when the unit is powered on. Again, I don’t want to repair the printer, just dispose of it but I need to clear any sensitive information stored and can’t do that because of the frozen screen.

I want to dispose of my PIXMA TS6020. However, I cannot perform a hard reset, because The screen is frozen with a support code 5100 message stating printer error has occurred follow the steps below, etc. I have gone through every possible step to check for blockages etc. and I have no way of Performing a hard reset in order to delete any sensitive information that might be on the printer. This unit does not have a removable hard drive So my only alternative is to perform a hard reset, which I cannot do with the frozen screen. Please help.

The printer code 5100 indicates a printer head carriage jam. There could be an obstruction causing this error.
