PIXMA G620 won't print borderless on high resolution paper

I've been printing borderless photos with G620 successfully most of the time. However, I just found out that when I select the high resolution paper type, in Windows there would be a message saying that the printer setting doesn't support borderless printing and the borderless setting would be turned off. In Mac there would be no warning. No matter which OS I use, the printer does not print borderless with high resolution paper as the paper type.

It looks like a firmware issue. Is there a fix? I don't see why high resolution paper shouldn't support borderless printing especially when plain paper does.

There is not really anything you can do to get the printer to recognize high resolution paper and print borderless at the same time. So try lying to the printer and pick a compatible paper, it should still print and the results may be acceptable.

Thank you. Do you know why high resolution paper does not support borderless printing? It seems to be a good candidate to have such a capability. Even plain paper and card stock support borderless printing although they're not listed in the official Canon documentation.

I have no idea, neither do I know why certain Canon "photo" printers will not print 8x10 borderless photos on any kind of photo paper. I had one of those the TS3722 which will not print 8x10 borderless prints on any kind of paper. I had one for two weeks and gave it away. I replaced it with a much better (and at the time less cost) Canon printer a Pixma MG3620 which I am very pleased with for more than just the 8x10 photo capability.
