Usually when ink cartridges are installed a print head alignment request comes up. It does on my MG3620 which I think is a decent printer and very inexpensive. I prefer to perform this from my PC. I open the Canon My Printer desktop app choose start my printer then printer settings and then the maintenance tab. All the pertinent tests and functions are there including print head alignment.

Yeah I tried that. I have owned a couple of Canon printers and the last one did the same thing. Sounded like there was an object in the cartridge carrier when it was printing. Kept hearing this "clunk, clunk" each time it passed during the printing process.
