I just bought a Canon Pixma TS6520 which says has 1200 x 2400 dpi. When I open up the basic scanner controls, the highest dpi I can input is 600 dpi, not any increment higher. I wanted to scan some old photo for enlargement that would require a higher resolution.

Is there other program I should use to scan at 1200 or 2400 dpi?

I still have 3 weeks to return it...

Thanks!

Image garden scan and scan utility only scans to 600 dpi. Use the Scan Gear program (which is on the scan utility panel) and you can set the scanner to 1200 dpi.

Greetings,

What operating system version and build are you using the printer with? How is your printer connected and to what?

Which software drivers and utilities did you install? I'm including a link to the product's support portal so you can give us specific information.

This may simplify the settings for you if you have the software installed for windows, if not you can get it here, USA support does not have this on their site due to some error I think, look for the download button on the page:

https://canada-canon.my.site.com/customersupport/article/0101270017

to set the scanner resolution to 1200 dpi on your PIXMA TS6520, follow these steps:

Using the Operation Panel

Turn on the Printer: Ensure your PIXMA TS6520 is powered on.

Select Scan: On the operation panel, choose the "Scan" option.

Access Scan Settings: Look for the "Scan settings" option and select it.

Set Resolution:

You will see options for resolution.

Enter "1200" in the resolution field or select it from the available options.

Confirm Settings: After setting the resolution, confirm your settings to proceed with the scan.

Using Canon IJ Scan Utility (Computer)

Open Canon IJ Scan Utility: Launch the software on your computer.

Select Document Type: Choose the type of document you are scanning.

Adjust Settings:

Look for the resolution setting.

Set it to "1200 d

I'm using a wifi connection to the printer scanner, and on my PC (windows 11) I'm running the only software that was automatically installed when connecting my printer. It is called Canon Print. The cannon support web site provide a downloadable application only for iOS and Android.

Sorry I was out of town last week and could not do the testing, but now I'm back, I've installed the new driver but still do not have an option to scan above 600 dpi.

Even using the Operation Panel, the scanning resolution for photo is 75 dpi, 150 dpi, 300 dpi or 600 dpi. It does not go above 600 dpi. I've downloaded and installed the latest FW but still the scan is limited to 600 dpi.

Does anybody have a TS6520 that can scan above 600 dpi, or is my printer defective ?

Greetings,

I don't think you can select a higher scan resolution in the Canon print app but I do believe DerrikL's instructions in regards to typing in a higher DPI for scan gear works. Let me get a cup of coffee ☕️ and head into my office I'll take a closer look. In the meantime, please try his suggestion I'm pretty sure he is correct. Don't worry, your printer is not defective. 🙂

Thank you all. This was confusing because only the scangear application supports scan resolution higher than 600 dpi. The control panel on the TS6520 does not go above 600 dpi, neither does the Canon Print application installed by default.
