Understanding Canon TS6420a Error Code 7700

What the Error Code Means

The Canon TS6420a error code 7700 typically indicates a problem with the printer's print head or an internal hardware malfunction. This can be caused by:

A clogged or faulty print head

Issues with the ink cartridges

Mechanical failures within the printer

Steps to Resolve the Error

To fix the error code 7700, follow these steps:

Clean the Print Head: Use the printer's maintenance options to clean the print head. This can help clear any clogs.

Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. Replace any empty or defective cartridges.

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can reset the printer's internal systems.

Inspect for Mechanical Issues: Look for any foreign objects or paper jams that might be causing mechanical failures.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider contacting Canon support for further assistance.

Hi, DerrickL. I am using this forum to thank you for your suggestion to use the USB cable to install the Plug & Play drivers for my PIXMA TS6420a multifunction printer. I thought I had tried everything except that I no longer had the proper USB cable to execute this procedure. So, using an OLD USB cable (newer cables did not fit the In/Out -put port of the printer) with both a USB A/B on one end and a USB B end on the other end of the cable, the drivers installed and the printer worked on my Surface Pro 12" Snapdragon ARM64 CPU based hybrid laptop. Thank you!
