unfortunately no solutions i found online worked (this one included) . the only option if you want to keep the printer is to essentially reroute the waste ink into a new external container (which requires taking the printer apart and cutting a few pieces up) & downloading a 3rd party software to override the code, there’s no way to manually do on the printer & the user manual has nothing to help, just says to contact customer service ;-;

the dreaded Error 5B00 has entered the chat, i was in the middle of printing pages for a project when my black started spotting mid print (rip those last 9 pages) when Error 5B00 began to flash. i’ve tried everything, the manual was no help at all (directed me to contact support), i tried every YT video, was all over reddit forums & these forums with no luck. the only “solution” was to purchase a software to override the printer & cut into it & reroute the waste ink to go into an external waste tank.

what do i do now? i’ve had this printer for almost 5 years now & i have to put my projects on pause. thankfully, i have friends who will let me use their printer in the meantime & i got the bulk of it done but i purchased the tank because i’m an artist and i go through a LOT of ink & needed something that had a great print quality.

From Reddit:

5b00 means that the ink absorber is full and the counter has reached it's maximum value. However I found this video regarding resetting the ink absorber count by entering a code to enter service mode however there's no proof that it'll work on the g6020. Worth a shot though. My parents ordered the same printer and is still in transit and when I found out about 5B00 after ordering, my jaw dropped and now I regret recommending it when we saw it at Staples! I hope this helped and I'd be curious to know if this worked for you.
