This is a recent problem with the scanning of photos. I scan directly from the printer and every scan comes back as PDF file. I have used the IJ scan utility but would rather scan directly from the printer. Any ideas?

Sorry I have no answer. I just wanted to add my frustration about the change in default to .pdf from jpeg. I too, use the IJ Scan utility and I have to keep changing it to jpeg.

Greetings,

On this model, you cannot change then set the default file type from .PDF to .jpg when scanning on the printer. It has to be selected each time scanning is performed. You can however set the default file type as .jpg using the IJ Scan Utility.

Instructions for doing that can be found here:

Save Settings Dialog Box - IJ Scan Utility (Win) https://share.google/pPpL1oh4RMr4z3ffx

I had the same problem. I used the scan utility app. However I have also realized that by pausing my VPN it solved the problem.
Hope this helps.
