Canon iP8700: Printer doesn't finish printing photo--prints partially

I'll start by saying that I have been using this Canon iP8700 for 3 years to print full color photos and prints on high quality photo paper. I typically print in sizes 8x10" and 5x7" with 8.5x11" paper (which I later trim after the printing is complete). I print the same image in batches. It could be 1 copy, or 10 copies that I send to the printer. My photos are properly sized for printing on the paper.

But now (today) suddenly the printer doesn't finish printing the photos. I send the printing command either from Photoshop CS6 or by right-clicking the photo directly on Windows. The printer starts printing but, randomly, it will stop the printing operation without printing the full image (at varying stages--10%, 25%, 50%--it's random). It will then continue to try to print the same image again and again, by grabbing new paper. I have to force stop it (shut it off). And when there is no paper in the feed tray, it gives me error 1000 for no paper.

Steps I have taken that didn't fix the issue:

- Replaced ink tank for color running low on ink.
- Restarted computer and printer.
- Reinstalled iP8700 driver for Windows.
- Tried printing by enabling "Do not allow application software to compress print data"
- Tried printing by disabling "Do not allow application software to compress print data"
- Tried printing with "Prevention of Print Data Loss" displayed On
- Ran Windows troubleshoot function "Find and fix problems with printing"
- Ran the Cleaning command to unclog print head nozzles on Canon My Printer app

Additional information:
- Printer is connected by USB
- PC runs on Windows 10 64-bit OS with 32GB of ram, HDD has 256GB of free (unused) space, SDD has 172GB of free (unused) space

I figured out the problem. Posting here in case it's helpful for anyone else.

Solution: Get a better quality USB cable.

I recently moved offices. After my move, I connected the printer with a (different) longer USB cable due to the arrangement of my office furniture. Once I tested printing with the older, shorter cable, my printer resumed printing as normal. The issue was that the data transfer in the other USB cable was inadequate.

I will be purchasing a new, high speed, shielded USB cable to connect my printer to my computer.
