Greetings,

The i9900 was released in 2004. If this is the original printhead, it's likely reached the end of its usable life. What was the reason for removing and cleaning the printhead in the first place? Print quality issues. Error message, lack of use? The error message can be related to the printhead or to a component in the printer itself.

Error Message "Head Temperature sensor rank error" appeared when I inserted a print head that I've rinsed with hot water and dried for 2 days. I've tried to clean out the contacts and unplugged the power cable and restarted the printer but same error message appeared. Is the printer beyond saving?

Hi Rick,

The printer was not used much and several ink cartridges has dried up. Print quality was poor. The head was removed to wash out dried ink. I am trying to determine if a new print head might solve the error message

Hi,

It might if that's the actual issue. You may or may not be able to find a replacement given the printers age.

https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/i9900?srsltid=AfmBOoqav4_hBOAJrskYlg-LQ7krGji8oLzlYD_-Sm1yYrJEJuzSC5Fi

I'd hate for you to buy one only to find out something else was wrong. The safest thing to do would be to replace the printer. This way you aren't getting yourself into a money pit without a path forward.

I totally agree. I was just hoping that there's someone who has come across an identical error message and found an easy fix. Appreciate the help, Rick
