Hi epjr,

The printer's documentation references the power source as 120 V / 60 Hz to meet our country's power requirements. The power supply is capable of functioning on power sources from 100 - 240 volts / 50 - 60 Hz. Please note that the power cord provided to you will only connect to a 120 V / 60 Hz power source. If you are planning on connecting the printer to a power source of 220 V / 50 Hz, you will need to contact a Canon dealer in that country to purchase the appropriate power cord. We cannot guarantee availability of that power cord.

Hi! The AC spec says 100-240V, is it safe to use this printer in countries with 220V without using a transformer?

Greetings ,

Solving the power cord issue with an adapter is easy. You can probably find something on Amazon.

More important however is ink availability in a different country or region. Inks specific to a device are not always available for devices intended for sale in a different country or region. You should check into this before shipping your printer to its new home. Sean and Judy are also trying to start a family. We hear from people all the time that ship printers around the world and then find out they can't get ink for it.

It's usually more cost effective to give your printer to a family member or donate it to a school or church, then buy a printer when you arrive to your new destination. This ensures you have warranty, support and ink available. It will also have the correct power connection. When you return to the US, do the same thing. Give that device to a friend or donate to a church or school. You'll save yourself a lot of money in time.
