Firmware and software updates for G7000

I looked through the manual trying to figure out how to check for updates for the IJ Utility and my G7000 printer. After a lot of searching all I found was how to check or get firmware updates IF my G7000 is connected to the internet via a LAN or Wi-Fi connection. I don't use either. My G7000 is connected via USB to my Windows 10.

Also, the only Canon software on my PC is the IJ Scan utility and the IJ Printer Assistant Tool. Seems like I should be able to check other things from my PC like G7000 firmware and software updates.

How do I check for firmware and software updates, then download them if they are out of date ?

Hi @Patrick - is there any document for the new firmware? I found my G7020 (US) recently indicated a new FW was available, but no documentation seems to exist for this (including on the above link, where there is no information at all about Firmware, only drivers/software). Is there perhaps some internal document that can be published for this?

Hi @Patrick, same question as @Kyloto. What is included in this most recent firmware update? I also see nothing about firmware at the https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-g7020 link. I am, however, receiving messages on the printer operations panel about a firmware update being available. It does not even inform you about what version of the firmwares is available so I am unable to share the version info with you. Any info you can pass on is appreciated so we may try to make informed decisions about managing our devices.

I dont know why the answer wasn't just made easily available by just pointing us in the right direction, but i was able to successfully update my printer to the latest firmware. This link shows you how to easily via your printer LCD screen.

Why in the world wouldn't a basic description of the firmware update made available???
I for one would like to know whether this firmware release fixes the problems I'm having with my G7020 Wireless printer BEFORE updating.
Please publish the "specification" so that we all know.

Hi Patrick, et al:

My original installation said one way to connect this printer is via USB cable to the PC. That's what I did. Lousy we can not update the Firmware if the printer is connected using any of the available set-up methods.
