Good for you! Since the computer wouldn't connect to my Microsoft computer wirelessly, I tried via USB cable. It is still not connecting. 😞 I may end up returning.

I spent a number of hours over the course of 3 days to install a Pixma TS3722 on a Windows 10 computer connected to a WPA3 router, to no avail. That is, until I stumbled across someone's video on the the internet about connecting the printer via a USB cable. USB cable??? I scoured the documentation that came with the printer and even read what was on the carton. Unless I've gone blind, no mention of a USB cable is made. Once the cable was attached, it took all of 3 minutes to have the printer connected to the computer and up and running.

Can someone explain to me, why information regarding the USB connection is not included in the documentation that comes with the printer???

Hi, Exxeter! We checked the PIXMA TS3722 manual and found numerous mentions of a USB connection. Check out page 166 and feel free to download the PDF for your own quick reference. Hope this helps!

Danny,

Thanks for the speedy reply. You know that 10x7-1/4 inch piece of paper entitled "Setup Instructions" which provides the URL https://ij.start.canon/TS3722 ? It points to a URL that tells you to turn the printer on, install the ink cartriges, etc., and has you install Canon Print. Of course that app doesn't do anything if the printer isn't connected to the computer the software is on. Given the process I've describe, at what point is the customer provided with the URL for the manual, or any URL dealing with troubleshooting?

Hi Exxeter,

Actually that's not true. You can connect the printer to your compatible Wi-Fi Network using the Canon Print App, or via a USB cable. The printer however, is only compatible with WPA2 encryption. It will not connect to a network configured with WPA3. This is documented in the product specifications.

Most routers that support WPA3 also support WPA2 for backwards compatibility. In fact, mine supports both simultaneously. This allows newer devices to use WPA3 and older ones to use the previous standard which honestly is still very secure.

If you have other questions about your device or need further assistance, just reply back and we'll be happy to help.

Rick,

You are correct. What I was questioning is that if the printer can be connected to the computer via a USB cable, wouldn't be more appropriate to mention it in the setup process? Page 166 of a 435 page manual only works if people are alerted to its existance in the documentation that comes with the printer. In any event, I'll mark this as resolved.
