PIXMA TS6420 - What is the PIXMA PRINT PLAN?

Hello! I have been looking in getting a Canon Pixma TS6420 and everywhere I look, it mentions the PIXMA print plan? From my understanding it is something just for the ink correct? My worry is that I would buy the printer and it would turn out to be a subscription service that you must buy into in order to use the printer to even print. Any information would be great for this first time printer buyer!

You don't need any plan to use the printer. Just install and use.

As a possible convenience Canon does offer a print plan and an ink replenishment plan.

If your printer is connected to the internet and you have the optional ink plan Canon will send a replacement cartridge(s) when the ink gets low.
