topic Canon PIXMA G6030 always saying it's offline in Desktop Inkjet Printers

About two years back our office purchased a Canon PIXMA G6030 ink jet printer. The printer worked great and we were happy with the results. We moved offices and ever since the printer is always in "Offline" mode. I've googled this problem and gone through the solutions. The only solution that has had any success is reinstalling the driver but even that is a limited success.

For example, I downloaded the latest driver for the printer and installed it. The printer worked fine. Spent all day printing off of it. The next day I turn on the printer and my computer can't print because it says the printer is offline. I install the driver again and it's back to normal. Everyday I want to print I have to reinstall the driver and it prints just fine, until it or my computer powers off. I am hoping for any more permanate long term solutions to this problem.

I am operating off a Lenove laptop with Windows 11.

Greetings,

How is the printer connected, and to what?

I suspect this might be related to your network configuration. I'll wait for you to report on the above.

Greetings,

Thank you for confirming. The issue you are experiencing is related to your network configuration.

Please log into your router and assign the printer a static IP on your network.

This only has to be performed once. After this is completed, remove the device from your computer and uninstall all Canon software. Now restart your system.

Now reinstall the printer as an IP printer. If you do not know how to do this, just ask 🙂

Here's what's happening. Your router is issuing an IP address from its DHCP pool. You install the printer, it uses the known IP and you are able to print. After a period of inactivity, power off or the system goes to sleep, the router deems that the IP address is no longer in use and reclaims it for future assignment. When you turn the printer on again, the computer attempts to use the last known connection method but its IP address has probably changed. By performing the reinstallation step, you are refreshing the connection and are able to print again.... Until the next event. Assigning a static IP address ensures persistency. Assignment takes place on your router, and as I mentioned, previously only needs to be done once. If you have any questions, we'd be happy to help further.
