PIXMA G6020 not recognizing ink cartridges, 1642 error message

I am not ready to put ink in the ink wells yet. May be moving soon. I wanted to just use the Cartridges that came with the printer. However, I am getting a 1642 error. Like it the printer isn't even looking at the cartridges.

Can anyone help?

As the PIXMA G6020 gets all of its ink from the built-in refillable ink tanks, we're not sure which cartridges you're referring to that came with the printer. Would you mind giving us some more information on those, including whether the cartridges have any labels on them and any numbers prominently displayed on those labels?
