Trying to "ADD" Wireless MX870 Printer to MacBook Air but newer MacBook is not finding anything...

I have a Windows 10 Home computer that can print to a Canon MX870.

I have an old MacBook Air (version Catalina 10.15.7) that can print to the same Canon MX870 printer.

I was provided with a new MacBook Air from my new employer (version Sequoia 15.3.1). I am trying to connect my MX870 printer to it. I downloaded the Canon driver "Canon IJ Network Tool Ver.4.7.7 (Mac), but no luck connecting.

Can someone confirm that my new MacBook Air won't work because it's newer? And message at top of the download page says that "PIXMA MX870 has been retired. Product support is no longer available. Driver and content updates are not being made."

So does this mean that if/when I upgrade my Windows computer and my old MacBook Air, the printer won't work either? So, my only option is to buy a new printer? Please confirm. Thanks for helping someone with limited hardware/software experience.

Have similar issue - prints on MX870 fine from Win10 and Win11 laptops, prints fine from iPhone (limited feature). Cannot print from MacBook running Tahoe - via WiFi.

have tried IP print and installed CUPS driver from Gutenberg. Also tried at least one paid app - still unable to print.

Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

No Apple driver available and not supported with AirPrint.

Maybe check Canon Loyalty Program for a new device.
