Hi jason3,

Please download and install the driver for your PIXMA TS6420a:

1. Please click this link: Canon Support for PIXMA TS6420a

2. Click on Software & Drivers.

3. Choose "Windows" from the Operating System drop down and then "Windows 7" from the Version drop down.

4. Click the Download button to the right of "Print Driver and Scan Utility Installer Ver.1.06 (Windows)". Note: you may have to click the "Load More" button to locate this.

5. Once that file finishes, please open or run that file to begin the installation on your computer. If you have to search for the file first, the files name is: "md__-win-ts6400-1_06-ea34_2.exe"

6. Follow the on screen prompts to install.

Did this answer your question? If so, please click the Accept as Solution button below so that others may find the answer as well.

Greetings,

If you are connecting a device via USB, you should install drivers before connecting it your computer.

Detection issues can result if the device is connected first. I suggest you remove the device, unplug it from your PC and restart before attempting the installation again.

Install the driver first, connect the device when prompted to do so. This ensures proper detection. FYI, Windows 7 is EoL and windows 10 will reach end of support in October of this year. Consider upgrading your PC to a supported version of windows as soon as possible. Using Windows 7 is no longer secure. Just because it works doesn't mean its good or safe to continue using.
