Don't know your printer specifically, but it is possible the printer came with starter cartridges that don't have a full load of ink.

Also, it depends on what you are printing. Light type to photos to large solid areas is a lot of variation.

I just purchased an MG 3620. I have only printed about 30 pages and I am already out of ink. Shouldn’t it be able to print 400-600 pages easily before it runs out?

Hi burtfam22,

When you use your Canon printer for the first time right after you install the provided ink tanks, the Canon printer consumes ink in the amount to enable printing by filling the nozzles of the Print Head with ink. For this reason, the number of sheets that can be printed with the first ink tanks is fewer than the succeeding ink tanks.

To view the print yield, please view the following PDF:

https://downloads.canon.com/nw/printer/misc-pages/print-speed-methodology/pdfs/MG3620_Print_Yield_V1.0.pdf

Greetings,

Both posts above are correct. Please keep the following in mind. Page yield is directly affected by percentage of ink coverage. Printer manufacturers all use the same ISO standard for calculating page yield unless stated otherwise.

Estimated page yield is calculated using an average of 5% coverage. Estimated page yield decreases as the percentage of ink coverage increases. So the number of printed pages can vary based on the amount of ink that's being used.
