&lt;P&gt;Your printer is 14 yrs old.&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;The sensor might have worn out or failed.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Your options in this case are limited. Open / close the door and power cycle the device.&amp;nbsp; You can also try to unplug and reconnected power.&amp;nbsp; Door and cover sensors are not user serviceable and you'd probably have a hard time finding them due to the printer's age.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;If this doesn't help, it's probably time to replace the printer due to its age.&amp;nbsp; It sounds like it's had a great life.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Canon has a upgrade program.&amp;nbsp; Its designed for people who have a product that has reached EOL or that is can no longer be supported from a technology perspective.&amp;nbsp; Parts availability is often the reason why products get retired.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I opened the side panel, I can see the lever which can open the tray cover if actuated. The error message persists when trying to print. That means we do not offer support for the printer or updated drivers.
