PIXMA TS6420a - Will not print from front cassette

TS6420a

Printer has worked fine for a year. I have never used rear paper feed. I wanted to print a picture, so I put a sheet of photo paper in the rear feed. It printed the photo fine.

Now the printer will not print from the front cassette. Preferences are set to plain paper and letter. I have tried, automatically select paper feed, and also selected cassette. Error is USB001 A paper size that cannot be fed from the cassette was selected. USB002 Change paper source to rear tray, load paper, then print again.

It will print a test page from the cassette. It will make a copy from the cassette. It will not print anything else from the cassette.

I tried deleting and reinstalling printer.

What version of Windows is installed on your computer?

Hi CPM,

Please turn your PIXMA TS6420a on and then follow these steps:

1. Press the OK button on your TS6420a one time.

2. Use the down arrow to select Feed settings and press OK.

3. Use the down arrow to select Cassette paper settings and press OK.

4. Press OK again.

5. Use the down arrow to select Change and press OK.

6. Select Letter and press OK.

7. Select OK and then press OK.

8. Use the down arrow to select Detect paper setting mismatch and press OK.

9. Select Disable and press OK.

Once set, please attempt to print.

If the error persists, next, we will reinstall the driver.

Are you using your TS6420a wirelessly? or with a USB cable?

Using USB cable.

I followed the instructions. Did not print.

Support code 1000

Load paper into rear tray correctly and press OK

It doesn't want to use the cassette.

Hi CPM,

On your computer, please press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter R, then let both go.

In the Run window that appears, please type NOTEPAD and click OK.

Type out a few words.

Click on File and Print.

Make sure that letter and plain paper are select and click Print.

Are you able to print from Notepad?

It will not print from notepad.

(A paper size that cannot be fed from the cassette was selected. Change paper source to rear and load paper.)

Preferences are set to letter 8.5 x 11, plain paper, and cassette.

If I remove all of the paper from the cassette, I don't get an out of paper warning.

I just tried making a copy again. It will print a copy from the cassette just fine. If I remove paper from the cassette and try to make a copy, then it will say out of paper.
